Wood Fired Hot Tub Instructions & Safety
The wood fired hot tub will be left clean and ready for you to fill with fresh water.
This type of hot tub does not require chemical treatment while in use, so you can enjoy chemical-free bathing.
Please shower before using the hot tub, as this washes away many of the common skin bacteria, make up, sunscreen, tanning products, deodorant, insect repellent and oil-based products. Failure to do this may affect the water quality and the cleanliness of the hot tub.
Please leave the hot tub full of water when you check-out (or if we’re doing a mid-stay clean). This is so we can sanitise the water and pipework before draining.
HOT TUB USE
One lit, please allow plenty of time for the hot tub to heat up. It should take 1-2 hours in warmer weather and 2-3 hours in cooler weather, provided the burner is stacked full of wood so that the maximum amount of heat possible is produced. If starting from an empty burner, start with 1 firelighter, add the smaller kindling wood, then stack with logs before lighting.
Use the paddle to stir the water regularly to distribute the heat, but keep the lid in place otherwise.
Once up to temperature, do not add more wood, and the temperature will be maintained for 1-1.5 hours without any additional maintenance, and adding more wood could cause the water to become too hot during use. Use the slider on the burner to control temperature.
HOT TUB MAINTENANCE
Using the hot tub again within 12 hours will require only a short heating time (20-30 mins), although please note the safety information below about draining the water.
To drain, please attach the yellow hose.
Please ensure the hot tub is full up with water before lighting (30cm from the top), and that the fire/ash has cooled before draining out the water.
Please change the water every day, or with lots of bathers, after each use.
If you’ve been using the hot tub regularly during your stay, please let us know and we’ll arrange a mid-stay clean to keep the water fresh and clear. Please leave the hot tub full of water for this.
Do not add bubble bath, salts, oils, or any products — this will cause damage and incur cleaning charges.
HOT TUB SAFETY
Please beware of slippery steps, especially in wet or icy weather.
Re-cover the hot tub while not in use, and do not place anything on or climb on the lid.
Take care when adding firewood to the burner.
Be aware that the stove and chimney (flue) become extremely hot. Do not touch while burning or for a long time afterwards.
If the water feels too hot, get out immediately. You may add cold water if needed.
Ensure the fire has completely died down and the stove door is fully closed before leaving unattended.
Only use the wood provided — never use coal or charcoal (this will damage the system).
Use plastic glasses only (no glass near the tub). Broken glass will require draining and refilling.
Please use the sieve provided to remove debris from the hot tub water.
